Paul hitchhiked to Colorado from Ohio after college “back in the day” when you could. After seeing the sun for the first time, he met a ski instructor, married her (30 years and counting), and procreated – twice raising two great young men.
Paul Plvan has over 20 years of experience as a successful entrepreneur and 20 years total in business management. Prior to Mercury Leads, Paul spent 10 years with full-service national direct marketing firms where he was responsible for Fortune 500 marketing programs including, several of Time Inc’s publications, Apple’s K-12 marketing division, and VISA’s fund raising commitments to the United States Olympic Committee. At 31 Paul, founded a leading database marketing company DMX and built some of the original database marketing applications for the mutual fund industry Oppenheimer, Integrated Resources, Berger, and Founder’s Funds, introducing data mining to this industry. Paul was an executive with Excite Corp one of the original search portals and a director of Matchlogic, their data warehousing partner, where he constructed fully integrated data solutions for some of the largest databases in the world.
Paul currently owns Mercury Leads, a Denver based demand generation company though his roots are now in Durango. Paul enjoys anything to do with the mountains, and is an albeit aging, slow, and dwindling talent on the rugby pitch and hockey rink,..and loving it. Most importantly Paul loves kids, and the wonderful innocence that can change a world. Paul is an active mentor in Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado; and regularly gets schooled by a 10 year old named Harry, as well as sponsoring a child in Ecuador.
Candace has worn many hats throughout her professional career. She was a globe-trotting International Sales Manager for a robotic electronics manufacturer based in Finland. While traveling with this position, she learned to be gracious about fish-head soup, though she did not enjoy it. Candace went on to become the Global Product Manager for a software company. While her traveling bug is still strong, Candace decided to stay “home” to raise her daughter and joined the banking industry. ~
Since her happy arrival at Mercury Sales, Candace has put her passion into building and growing her clients’ revenues by going the extra mile to insure the best service possible. Going the distance is still in her blood! Candace spends as much time possible enjoying the great outdoors with her daughter… where they get to wear all sorts of hats.
Justin Tew – Practice Specialist ~ Commercial Insurance and Benefits Management
Virginia born and raised, with a stint abroad in his formative years. Justin started showing his entrepreneurial spirit at the age of 9 when he started mowing lawns, washing cars and even painting mailboxes for neighbors in his hometown of Fairfax. After studying criminal justice at Radford University, Justin continued serving his community by starting a landscaping company. He specialized in building and maintaining athletic fields at local schools and parks. In 2008 he left the fields for a professional sales career. Before joining Mercury Leads, Justin sharpened his professional skill-set as an insurance broker and sales executive in the tech industry. His experience in those two fields combined, left Justin uniquely qualified to generate best-in-class sales leads for a variety of industries. After searching for the best lead generation companies in the business, Justin reached out to Mercury Leads with a request for employment they couldn’t refuse. Justin is now a Practice Specialist and team leader in Healthcare Lead Generation.
In his personal life, Justin made a move to the bluebird-sky state of Colorado in 2014. Besides wishing to escape the perilous traffic and congestion that is Northern Virginia; he wanted to raise his daughter closer to nature. Barely a weekend goes by spring, summer, fall or winter when they are not out exploring the great outdoors. Camping, hiking, sightseeing and skiing are the rule in his free time, not the exception. Monty has been partnered with Mercury Leads since our founding. As a Professional, Management and Executive Search Consultant, Monty is directly responsible for finding the best talent who fit Mercury customer objectives. His mission was, is and always will be dedicated to the belief that “Human Capital is as valuable as financial capital. Every company is only as good as the people who run it and those who work for it”.
Monty’s philosophies gelled so completely with Mercury Leads that we asked Monty to help us on our advisory board. In his spare time Monty owns and operates ERM Solutions Group, Inc. – “A Community of Economic Partners”, is developing ConAgor, Inc., “A Community of Economic Liberty” collects memorable quotes, takes care of the farm (literally) in Iowa, parents his 85-pound Boxer/dog-son Bruno, and is the President and leading contributor to “the best handlebar mustache in the world contest” – the contest has an 1 official contestant, supported by all those who are qualified to vote – most being friends or clients of the one official contestant. He says he likes this arrangement and is thinking of running for county sheriff.
Obviously a motivated guy Monty believes “ ‘man’ is made to be productive, so if you retire from one adventure you will be wise to get active in another or you will wither and die. There are many challenges in life, one of the most important is discovering your life’s work – then work becomes play and your joy spreads to everyone you know”. Monty continues to spread joy at Mercury Leads every day.
Michael A. Cordova, – CTO
Starting with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University, Michael Cordova‘s background is (partly) a technical one.
Michael founded 21st Century Technologies, Inc. in 1993 as a custom database software company. 21st created custom
database software systems for the top semiconductor and pharmaceutical companies in the world. Before that Michael was a Systems Engineer for Computer Sciences Corporation where he designed and built mission-critical communication systems for the US Air Force at NORAD. This required a top-secret clearance. He personally met two Commander In Chiefs of NORAD (CINCNORADs – 4 star Generals) and has written software in more than 50 languages.
Michael traveled for 3 years living in Italy, Germany, France, Isla de la Piedra off the coast of Mazatlan in Sinaloa, Mexico and Aghia Galini on the southernmost Greek island of Crete. He sailed in the San Diego bay area and all around the island of Bora Bora in Tahiti. Michael was a navigator on seismograph survey ships at sea for over a year. He saw schools of stingray quilting the ocean surface as far as the eye can see that lasted for hours. He sailed in the middle of open ocean fish wars where millions of fish were being pursued by large predators and the fish were flying 20+ feet into the air to avoid them. He pulled in tuna and bonita so big it took 2 men to pull them overboard with a 1/2 inch nylon rope. He has pulled in many king salmon from high mountain turquoise lakes in Alaska fed by glaciers. He loves fresh fish steak.
In 1995 Michael was hired by a startup company to do their online marketing and protect their investment. After that company was successfully launched, two of the owners of that company (Paul Plvan and Tom Link) contacted Michael to see if he was interested in partnering with them in a new marketing agency. Those 3 incorporated Mercury Leads in 2006 and have never looked back.
Michael golfs as much as possible and is a lifelong and rabid Denver Bronco fan with family season tickets dating back to the olden days of NFL football. He is happily married in Denver, Colorado with a beautiful wife and red-headed daughter who plays the french horn and piano, sings in the choirs at church and school and plays volleyball and basketball.
With over 20 years of experience in direct response and database marketing, Tom Link has consulted with Fortune 500 and small, fast-growing B2B and B2C marketers on effective lead generation, direct marketing strategies, predictive modeling, and CRM.
As Managing Partner of Sullivan Direct, Link lead the direct response agency to the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing privately held companies 3 years in a row. He has provided direct marketing services for clients such as LexisNexis, Time Warner, AT&T, Procter & Gamble, Oracle, IBM, ATA Airlines, and Cincinnati Bell, among others.
Prior to his agency experience, he directed consumer marketing for several magazine publishers including Time Magazine and Ziff-Davis (PC Magazine) both in the US and Europe. He currently continues to serve clients as direct marketing consultant providing custom end-to-end lead generation services for B2B companies.
Tom is the proud father of two children, enjoys coaching, cycling, and fly-fishing, and is a private pilot.
